INCIDENTAL VOCABULARY ACQUISITION IN SLA: DOES AURAL INPUT FACILITATE VOCABULARY ACQUISITION WHILE READING?

Vocabulary acquisition is essential to achieve fluency in the target language; however, it a daunting and unending task for second language learners due large number of words required be learne. This two-group, pre/post/delayed post-test quasi-experimental study aims investigate whether English as Foreign Language (EFL) could learn new incidentally from reading texts their coursebooks there was an effect simultaneous input modality successful acquisition. It further aimed examine rate vocabulary recall by control group (reading-only condition) experimental (listening-while-reading condition). The revealed four major findings. Without being exposed any intentional instruction on vocabulary, 5.53 were learned reading-only mode, which gain more than 49%.
